DescriptionAbstract In the ever expanding Web presence as well as continued growth of traditional information content, business’ are challenged with ways to integrate the value of traditional relational data, flat files and de-normalized DW data to now include constructs such as URLs, browse paths, blogs as well as other unstructured data. Another challenge is gleaning business value from this new form of data. This presentation focuses on ways to integrate this valuable business information and to understand the characteristics of Web data as well as how to consider this information along side other more traditional data. We will discuss:
Biography Dawn Michels is a Sr. Technical Architect focusing on data for the Enterprise Business Intelligence team of Target Corporation in Mpls, MN. She has many years of experience in relational database design and modeling initiatives spanning the Retail, Insurance, Medical Devices, and Credit Card industries. Dawn has also worked for Andersen Corp, Guidant Corp, Fair Isaac Inc, and Minnesota Life Insurance and was the project lead at General Mills on their first Corporate Wide DW. To round out her professional career, Dawn is an adjunct faculty member at University of St. Catherine, teaching courses in MIS. She has spoken at seven previous DAMA International Conferences, is the current president of DAMA MN, and served on the DAMA I board as VP of Chapter Services. Take Highway 494 WEST to HIGHWAY 169 NORTH (approx. 7-8 miles). Take Highway 169 NORTH to the BREN ROAD/LONDONDERRY ROAD exit (first exit immediately after Highway 62 “Crosstown”). Exit at Bren Road/Londonderry Road. At the top of the exit ramp is a stop light. Turn left and remain in the left-hand lane. Cross the bridge (over Highway 169) and you will reach a second stoplight. (You can see the UnitedHealth Group Center North on your left.) Go Straight. At the third stoplight you will reach SMETANA DRIVE. Go Straight. Approximately 50 feet after Smetana Drive (stoplight) there will be a road that goes to the left into UnitedHealth Group Center…it comes up very quickly. Take it. This is a sharp turn and looks as though you will turn into a hill. (If you reach the Marriott Hotel, you’ve gone too far and missed the turn.) This road will bring you quickly to a stop sign. Go straight ahead into the UnitedHealth Group Center North area. Follow the signs for visitor parking and proceed to the receptionist. Directions from Downtown Minneapolis: Take HWY 394 WEST to HIGHWAY 169 SOUTH Take Highway 169 SOUTH to the BREN ROAD/LONDONDERRY ROAD exit (the last exit before Highway 62 “Crosstown”). Exit at Bren Road/Londonderry Road. At the top of the exit ramp is a stop light. Turn RIGHT and go into the LEFT-HAND LANE. Stay in the left-hand lane through the next stop light and take an immediate LEFT (sharp curve) which takes you into the UnitedHealth Group Center. (If you reach the Marriott Hotel, you’ve gone too far) This road will bring you quickly to a stop sign. Go straight ahead into the UnitedHealth Group Center North area.
